This month the youth have been learning about relationships with others. Before interacting with others, it is important to know who you are as an individual. Discovering one’s own talents and skills first benefits a person and affect their relationships in the future. This was the focus for the youth the first week. Our youth continued to learn that relationships should start with respect and care for each other, and continue throughout the relationship growing to be a healthy paring. Acting like ladies and gentlemen is beneficial to any relationship whether is it just a one time meeting or a relationship that continues for a lifetime. These simple courtesies of holding a door open, stepping-in to help, or a simple smile were taught to the youth the second week this month. Having emotional boundaries is just as important as having physical boundaries in a relationship. If these boundaries are crossed, the emotional damage usually makes a bigger impact than a physical one. During the third week, the youth learned more about these issues, which lead directly to the fourth week’s topic of sexual purity. This is an important topic for our youth, so they can learn the importance of family and marriage. Unfortunately, most of our youth did not have strong role models in this area. Through these presentations on relationships our youth are better knowledgeable of what a healthy relationships should consist of among the people they know and meet in the future.
