With many thanks to generous donors, María was able to have the surgery on the small cyst on her eyelid yesterday at the Clinica Caceda. Due to her poor living conditions, María will be staying with our director, Liz Bernuy, and her family for a few days while she recovers. Liz will need to clean the eyelid and put new bandages on four times a day and also give María the proper dosage of antibiotics and medication. The post-operation visit is on Wednesday and we are so thankful that everything went smoothly!
Yesterday was not only about María’s surgery, it was also the celebration of her 16th birthday! Liz, her husband, Obal, and their son Mateo celebrated with María by baking a chocolate cake. We are so thankful to be able to invest in the lives of teenagers like María, who are finding hope through the relationships and opportunities that, together, we are helping to provide.
